We publish guides to local businesses, places to eat, shopping, attractions, leisure activities and essential services. We use neighbourhoods, institutions and landmarks when they genuinely help answer the reader’s question.
Gillingham and the wider Medway area
Gillingham is one of the Medway towns. Within Gillingham, the High Street, Brompton, Twydall, Gillingham Green and other neighbourhoods have their own context. Chatham, Rochester, Rainham and Strood are neighbouring towns in the wider Medway area; they are not interchangeable with Gillingham.
We keep attractions in their correct locations: the Historic Dockyard Chatham is in Chatham; Rochester Castle and Cathedral are in Rochester; and Chatham Maritime, including the Dockside Outlet Centre and university campuses, should not be presented as Gillingham town centre. We may include them in a wider Medway guide when clearly labelled.
